Best Farm 2023
In Elbu village, Pärnu County, there is a farm that raises organic Wagyu cattle, as well as Limousin and Aberdeen-Angus cattle. The herd consists of 86 animals in total, with the goal of creating a purebred Wagyu cattle herd, which will also be used for breeding purposes. Currently, the farm has the largest Wagyu herd in Estonia, made up of 36 animals. The pasture management method used is portion grazing.
The farm has been operational for seven years and was founded by Lisanna and Marko Hiiemäe. Both had previously worked in the catering industry, and their journey to farming was driven by a desire for quality meat. Farming is enjoyable for them, as it offers the opportunity to be surrounded by nature and animals while allowing their children to grow up in a rural environment.
“Sepa Veised OÜ caught the attention of the evaluation committee with its innovative approach, environmentally conscious and sustainable management practices, and contribution to the development of the entire beef cattle sector,” said committee member Kerli Ats. She added that the company’s activities are a great example of how young entrepreneurs can serve as role models for the entire sector.
